Update on New Pierson Park: Sorry, No Opening Date Yet

For those of us (still) salivating outside the temporary fencing of Pierson Park, the answer is: soon.

There's still no definitive date yet for an official opening for the newly renovated park at Tarrytown's riverfront but officials promise the sprayground, playground, paths and more will be able to get used by summer.

Summer's well underway though and the people are getting restless! Resident Anne Habig asked for an update, saying, "We walked there this evening and it looks 90 percent done to me."

That's probably about right, says Village Administrator Mike Blau, noting that they're waiting for the grass to fully grown in as well as the "completion of fishing pier, completion of spray playground, completion of some pathways, finishing work on a parking lot, etc."

The park will not be open for the 4th of July fireworks. Click here for places in Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow you can go to see the show.

Until then, what do you think so far? Are you enjoying the open tennis courts? The promise of so many plantings? The new cleaner creek? Weigh in here.
